ADAM IRVIN BAND

BEHIND THE MUSIC

Adam Irvin performed solo-acoustic around Hampton Roads for years before setting out to put a band together. Knowing and understanding how difficult it would be to find like-minded musicians who also grasped the business side of music, he began the process of recruiting. Over the course of a year he interviewed several candidates and carefully selected a handful to actually jam with. The only prospect that stuck was drummer Drew Sestok and he ultimately left the project in July 2023.

Before leaving, Sestok did invite friend/ fellow veteran Erik Mathesius over to take a crack at the bass guitar role. Mathesius is an exceptional musician and accepted the part and has been a massive contributor on several levels. The unexpected contribution came with the addition of keyboardist Clarence Mitchell. Mathesius and Mitchell are in a reggae band and Mitchell offered to come check out the project. Like Mathesius, Mitchell is a phenomenal musician and brings a tremendous amount to the table, especially the original music.

After Sestok departed, the band ultimately carried on, resulting in the departure of the electric guitar and an acoustic set being assembled. Although they would prefer to rock a bit harder at times, for now, they will endure a more acoustic/ballad style and will return to rocking when the right drummer comes along. They have 4 plus hours of cover songs and are beginning to chop away at the original music tree and should be releasing their first single, "Make Up Your Mind" in early 2024.
